The Highest Blossom

The Highest Blossom is a contemporary folk song project by Cavan musician Gráinne Brady, featuring original songs and co-writes with Boo Hewerdine and Findlay Napier. Developed through periods of focused writing, mentorship and collaboration, the project marks a significant step in Gráinne’s work as a songwriter, placing lyric, melody and storytelling at the heart of the music.
While widely known as a fiddle player, The Highest Blossom foregrounds Gráinne’s voice as a songwriter, presenting songs that are reflective, gently playful and rooted in everyday observation. The material draws inspiration from small, familiar details - nostalgia and memory, oak trees and changing seasons, condensation on windows, fleeting thoughts and quiet moments - using these images as starting points for broader reflections on life, movement and belonging.
The album features Heather Cartwright on guitar, whose sensitive and understated playing adds warmth and shape to the arrangements. Together, the performances favour space and clarity, allowing the songs to unfold naturally and connect directly with the listener.
The Highest Blossom has been presented in intimate listening venues and arts centres, where its thoughtful writing and understated delivery invite close attention. It is a project that finds meaning in the ordinary, offering songs that feel both personal and widely relatable.

The Highest Blossom is due for release early 2027.
